ALL COLT ARTISTES READ CAREFULLY
NB: The new SARS legislation effective 1st March 2010 means anyone working in our industry MUST have a Tax Number. We will not be able to put you on a set from 1st March 2010 without one. To assist you with this Colt Talent is asking you to come in and sign a single form which will allow us to register you ONLINE. This will enable you to keep working in the industry. You only have to do this once for one Agency. You will then receive your tax number when SARS completes your registration. You can also download a form yourself on their website.
To this end we will have someone at the Old Salt River office. 6 Spencer Road Salt River from 9am till 5pm each Thursday, Friday and Saturday &at new Office Unit 6, Atlas Gardens, 37 Sycamore Street, Contemanskloof. 9am - 6pm.Every agency will be making this demand of you as it is rolled out. Get yourself ahead of the others come down and complete this form, the rest we will do.
The background to this is that SARS is gearing up for the Social Security scheme which will come into place for National Health etc. Any employer in every industry has to do the same so you will have to comply with this. So 28, 29, 30 January & 4, 5th, 6th February & 11, 12, 13th Feb & 18, 19, 20 Feb & 25,26,27 Feb are the dates to complete this.ALL artistes for whom we do not have forms or Tax Numbers will be archived in the system and not put forward for work until they do.
RegardsPatrick Colt Talent
NOTE: No exceptions we cannot place you on a set without a Tax Number.
The current drive with SARS is to modernise the tax system through the use of eFiling and e@syFile. The focus has been on accurate, timely submissions, reducing non-compliance and errors in the submission process. This has reduced cost burdens on SARS as the taxpayer the taxpayers are electronically filing their returns and SARS has now redirected their staff to compliance review and not administrative issues. Section 67(1) and section 67(2) of the Income Tax Act defines who must register for tax. In summary, any person who earns remuneration must be a registered taxpayer unless such person only is subject to SITE. The SITE threshold is R60 000, so anyone who works for a single employer who is in standard employment and earns less than R5000 per month and has no other income, is exempt from registration. I cannot think of any examples of who would be excluded from being a registered taxpayer and everyone should have atax number, crew, artists, extra’s, models and in-house staff should all get a tax number in the next 5weeks.
